Goodwin Attends Founders of the Future Launchpad Weekend in London

On January 21, members of Goodwin’s London private equity team participated in the Founders of the Future Launchpad Weekend at Imperial College, London – an event aimed at helping promising entrepreneurs launch their startups. More than 100 potential tech founders attended.

Launched in the UK in March 2016 at 10 Downing Street by Founders Forum (itself a private network of the world’s leading digital and technology entrepreneurs started by Brent Hoberman (Lastminute.com/made.com) and Jonnie Goodwin (Lepe partners), Founders of the Future is an invite-only and not-for profit community of exceptional talent aged between 15 and 35 who are predicted to be founders of tech startups in the future. Goodwin is a keynote sponsor to Founders of the Future.

On day one of the event, Goodwin partner Gemma Roberts and associate Michael Miranda hosted a workshop on term sheet negotiations. The session highlighted the key legal terms and commercial points that early stage founders should consider at the term sheet stage, as well highlighting certain pitfalls to avoid.  Following the workshop, Roberts and Miranda were joined by Goodwin associate Ximena Negretti to provide mentoring for attendees.

Commenting on the event, Roberts said: “It was fascinating to meet so many people who were all at different stages of developing their business – some had already established their start-up, while others were starting to fundraise or were still in the process of refining their model.”
