MIT Launches Tech, Science Incubator – The Engine

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has announced the launch of The Engine, a new accelerator program with a planned $150 million venture fund to support startups innovating in the science and technology spaces, providing them with funding, space and a network of expertise.

A Goodwin team of higher education, tax, financial industry and private investment lawyers assisted in setting up the incubator; partners Susan Abbott, Thomas Beaudoin, Robert Bishop and Robert Kester and associate Yvonne Fok were all involved in the project.

Once The Engine has raised its $150 million fund goal, up to 60 companies at a time will benefit from The Engine’s equipment, services and considerable pool of expertise. Companies will come in for 6-, 9- or 12-month periods to receive a variety of forms of help, including access to lab spaces, specialized equipment and potentially online staging and supercomputing time.
